Bands You Really Need To Know - 8. Harvard (Song - French Girls)

At number eight is a young band from Charlotte, NC that are as musically clever as their name suggests. This progressive rock band has gathered quite a buzz state-side, helped through the release of their debut album ‘The Inevitable And I’ back in 2009, with their innovative brand of experimental elements and dark lyrical content.

Why should you check them out? - There are many, many reasons why people should check out Harvard, the first of which, unquestionably, would be sheer talent. That aligned with their youthful standing, places them in a wonderful position in which they could grow and this is all the more evident in their experimental musical output over the course of two years that reflects a plethora of diverse and intricate influences ranging from hard-core rock to jazz. (Note: also clear similarities between them and Circa Survive, who incidentally posses the same producer).

Harvard new song 8/6/11 amos (by enjoytheriderecords)

You know how sometimes you hear the demo/live version so many times that you start to worry the final cut will never sound quite right to you, no matter how much objectively better it is? Getting close to that point with this song. Every version that gets posted seems to be getting progressively better, though, so who knows. Or maybe the album version will sound EXACTLY like this and I won’t have to deal with being attached to the rough version.
